Front Caliper Shaft Bushing

Postby MJMNY » Thu Jan 15, 2015 6:21 pm

Rebuilding my front caliper and I need new rubber bushings for the shafts.

Any reason not to use regular rubber tubing of the proper size? The actual part is nearly impossible to find.

And while on the subject, I noticed when disassembling the caliper that the shafts seemed to be packedin grease. I'm guessing this is to make the caliper more watertight; I'm planning on repacking them with silicon grease when I put it pack together, any thoughts on this?

Thanks! M

Yeah when i bought parts for my caliper, these were unobtainable, got everything else though.
Im not sure if a pc of hose would be ok or not, if you look at the rubber if its still intact, there are concave marks in the rubber, i dont know if those are required to help the caliper slid on those shafts.
The grease is to help the caliper slide back and forth on those shafts.
