Spark Plugs

Postby Chris » Thu Jul 20, 2006 10:58 am

I'm on my 3rd set of NGK D8EA's this summer (including the set that was in the bike when I got it). Maybe someone makes a more durable plug for our application and my 'newbie' abuses. What would our alternatives be if we didn't use NGK? Does anyone have part numbers? Maybe there's a cross-reference list available somewhere?

Apparently once the bike has all the fuel/air kinks worked out plugs will last longer. I guess I'd be changing the plugs every oil change or two anyway. Maybe the offer a bulk discount.

You can try Denso X24ES-U standard plugs or Denso IX24 Irridium plugs if you can get them. That is the standard heat range equal to the NGK D8EA.

What happens if you put in NGK DR8ES-L plugs, the same as used on the European and Canadian models?

Maybe I'll try a set of those the next time I buy a set and let you know what happens. Since the weather has warmed to full blown summer temps, I've been using less choke and haven't had any issues with fouled plugs... yet.
