I replaced all four boots with new ones. I put a trace of 5w-40 inside each boot opening to lubricate them, muscled them onto the head, then spent 20 minutes trying without success to get the carbs on. I tried the strap and POOF they seated. Thanks!

1982 CB 650C....Your a genius! 2 hours fighting these carbs. Just wouldn't go!
Read your article and followed your advise, they were on in 15 minutes, popped right into place. Couldn't find any release for the air box to get more wiggle room. But a little silicone and the ratchet tie and it was done.... Thank you

Mine was totally stuck on, i used a hairdryer to soften the rubber and the ratchet to pull them off, same when i wanted them on, applying the heat did the trick for me, it was quite cold in my basement so about 5 minutes of heating and it went straight on.
