A quick question (I hope)
The 80 CB650C that I have now runs an looks nice. The oil indicator light stays on all the time.
Is the sensor an oil level sensor or oil pressure sensor?
I have check the oil level and it is good. I don't know if I have a bad sensor or if I have some more work do do on this bike.
Oil light stays on.
Oil light stays on.

Re: Oil light stays on.
Should be an oil pressure sensor. On my 79 it's located behind the shifter screwed into the oil pump. (you have to remove the shifter and cover) If you follow the wire that disappears behind that cover you may find a connector that needs to be cleaned. (seems to fix a lot of electrical issues) Admittedly I haven't had to look at this part very closely though.
Maybe someone can give you more insight as far as common solutions to this problem. Seized switch? Poor oil pressure?

Re: Oil light stays on.
It is an oil pressure switch. The wiring is part of the connector plug for the alternator. Make sure that plug is clean, and tight, and the screw on top of the switch is tight.

Re: Oil light stays on.
The cable for the pressure switch is a ground cable which means if it is damaged and has contact to the engine no fuse will blow but the light will stay on.
Just disconnect it from the plug to check for that, the light should extinguish with the cable end being free and light up when you contact it to the engine.
The switch itself may be checked with a bicycle air pump. It should switch from contact to open at about 0.7bar. Value might be stamped on it.
Be careful with replacements, there are several very similar 10mm threads. Hold the threads against each other before you try to screw something else in there!

Re: Oil light stays on.
Looks like the switch is what is bad. Getting a replacement.
