where to find the right air cut off valves. or block them?

Postby zohmbo » Mon Sep 14, 2015 5:12 pm

Anybody know a good place to buy the air cut off valves? The rubber on mine are torn. Or if it is a good idea to close the holes?

Ebay.com has a bunch of them but there's quite a price tag on them.

Siriusconinc.com usually have what I'm looking for http://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=121061

I bought new ones for a carb rack that I did for a friend. Was thinking about blocking them but never got to it.

There like 25 on that website also. Would only need 3 since the 2nd carb has the accelerator pump and that seems ok yet.

I would bypass them. That's the easiest thing to do.

I couldn't find a good post to learn how. Can you explain what to do or forward a good post about it? If I do that is it going to idle fine? Or maybe backfire while decelerating? Everything is stock except the ignition upgrade

Just read through both of those threads. I will be going at it Thursday night when I'm off work. I'll try the tooth pick for a test. If that works I'll have to have a friend solder it up. Will post back and let you know

Wait! Do I do this on all 4 carbs? Since the number 2 carb Hass the acc. Pump on it?

I don't think the acc-pump has anything to do with the cutoff.

The acc pump squirts fuel through the thin brass pole in all the carbs using the small aluminum tubes between the carbs, not just number 2. The pump itself just happens to be located on carb 2.

The acc pump squirts fuel when accelerating while the cutoff adds fuel when you decelerate from high speed to prevent a lean condition.

So all four cutoffs should be blocked...

I was just asking because I didn't see an air cutoff valve on number 2

That's strange, the 79 carb I was cleaning had a brass hole at eight o clock in all the carbs.

Just like in this pic http://smg.photobucket.com/user/joeducati/media/parts/2009-08-19102252.jpg.html

I stuck some tooth picks in as a test. Good results. Don't need the coke all the time. It's running kind of rich so for that I'm going to put in the 75$ worth of air cut off valves. But I tried the tooth picks and synced them last night. (Easiest bike I ever had for syncing)

I'm going to make a 4 bottle manometer. But that set up was from my 87 vs700
