Float Valve

Postby johnny340 » Wed Sep 23, 2015 9:04 pm

Where can I get a proper float valve for my '81 CB650 CV carb? I ordered the correct part number from Honda (16155-413-751) but it is too short. See pic.

Your picture is pretty huge. You might want to resize and repost.

To answer your question; As long as you set your float height for the difference and nothing bottoms out that one should work fine. Otherwise I know siriusconinc dot com has lots of parts for reasonable prices. Haven't tried ordering from them yet but others on here have had good experiences from what I understand.

That's kind of what I was thinking..that if it closes within the range of the float movement, I should give it a try. There is no way to adjust these floats.

I'll check out that site too, thx!

If you have the non-adjustable plastic floats, all the float valve lengths must be identical. If one is longer or shorter than the rest (assuming the rest are correct) the level in that carb will be high if the float valve is shorter or low if the float valve is longer. Even if the floats are the adjustable type, I wouldn't recommend using one odd-ball float valve as the weight of the valve is a factor as well.
