Re: New tires / tyres
Ah, I see. But I wasn't steering, I was (I guess) hijacking. I needed tires too, and was jumping on the bandwagon. Did not realize the situation.
Again, sorry.
In my defense, the OP has not replied since starting the thread, and reviewing the first post I see he left out the width of his desired rear tire choice... not sure what to make of that. I'd say, if he's still listening, that a 130/70-18 would probably fit but I wouldn't go wider than that without careful measurement. I'd think it would be tight.

I guess I should also mention that Kenda has the Retroactive tube-type tires in 120/90B-18 and 130/80B-18 sizes (as rear tires). Was it me doing it, and I wanted the "wider" look, I'd go with that latter tire.

Re: New tires / tyres
Okay, so for anyone who cares... the 130/80-17 Battlax fits my 1980 CB650 standard very nicely indeed. Got both tires on last night. When I balanced them, I was surprised that it took just one 10g weight for the front wheel, and I couldn't find a heavy spot on the rear at all. Considering the amount of weight I had to put on my Yamaha TW200's rear wheel last time I changed it, it was kind of amazing.

Re: New tires / tyres
Was revisiting this thread while putting together a blog post, and just thought I'd post an update. The Bridgestone Battlax tires I put on have served me well for about 2,000 miles so far; I'm not the sort of rider to really stress his tires, but they seem to be working and wearing quite well.
