I had thought about powdercoating, and apparently it is doable since the wheels are not meant to be disassembled. In the first instance I plan on stripping the wheels with aircraft stripper (which apparently is very effective, if a bit nasty to handle) and will see what they look like.

Some did powdercoat their comstars and posted pics. Might have been on the sohc4 site and maybe they where the original silver ones.

Well, the results are in...

The '79 single disc comstar went on perfectly after about 10 minutes of work. Not a bounce, not a quiver, not a shimmy. And that was at 85mph!

No wonder most bikes have mag rims these days!
