1980 CB650 Engine Swap with 82 CB650 SC Nighthawk engine

Hello all,
I'm in a bit of a jam, just looking for some guidance. I've recently swapped out my high mileage 1980 CB650 engine with a newer 82 CB650 SC Nighthawk engine (Engine ID begins with RC08E -http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb650sc-nighthawk-650-1982-c-usa_model475/partslist/SERIAL.html#results) and everything fits together perfectly except for my old carbs. Further research shows that I need VB44A carbs to complete the swap. I'm having a hard time finding a good set of VB44A carbs online and I am wondering if the newer VE54A carbs will fit into the 82 header?
In short,
Could I use VE54A carbs on an 82 650 SC Nighthawk engine?
Are there any other problems I might run into (ie, drivetrain alignment)?
Thank you all for the help!
