craigslist question about a 650 I found.
I found one that looks good, running. But he said it takes a long time and or is hard to start. What do you think that is.Mine are all apart scattered all over my workspace.I was going to find one running, even use it to show me where some parts go back when I reassemble.carbs? Valves? I dont want a 4th one to tear apart.

It wont be me.I already have 3, one is kicking my tail, the 79.I am going to ditch it and go back to the 80 model.I just noticed the 80 has the coveted grabrail.

chop it up? You should be ashamed.sacrilege.These bikes need to be restomod at most.i.e. different handlebars, forward controls, dechrome the fenders, custom paint, perhaps some pinstriping, flexible signal lights, flush mount gas cap, frenched tailight,or completely bone stock.I lean towards stock myself.

Re: craigslist question about a 650 I found.
These are the spark units/ignitors/cdi's and they seem to be still on their mount.
There is a thread in the frame (kinked there a bit?) just above the airbox where you can bolt in a bolt with a sleeve through the rubber part hole to get some damping from vibrations. This is the place for the RC05 frame, it might be elsewhere but not far off for the 79 with the RC03 frame.
The connectors on the harness are shown here:
http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/H ... parts.html
The two plugs next to the clamp #13.
No matter which to which plug, both will fit (the CB 650 has two identical ignition circuits for 1+4 and 2+3).

this is the one on the bike I am trying to fix.I have one that doesnt look melted.I hear they are 124 each, need 2, and are not repairable.I wonder if there is some radio shack component that would work.I wonder if the m mode device eliminates that?

also, what causes them to do that? Is it a faulty rectifier? the wiring coating from the connector to this unit looks kinda crispy too.Direct short?
