I have one head bolt that wont come out

Postby cruiserlover » Thu Jul 21, 2016 3:37 pm

On my 79 650.I got all 12 loosened.11 came out with a stick magnet to reach down in the holes. The last one is very loose also, you can turn the head easily. It will not lift out.I got the magnet,no work,I bought a magnet with a basket type grabber on it.I can turn the bolt with the grabber. It won't lift out of the head.I can not figure out what to do now.If I had snapped it off, the loose turning part should lift out it seems. The motor is locked up,that is why i was trying to take it apart.I can not rotate the motor to at least loosen and remove the cam.Any ideas?

1. Clean the bolt head from oil and grease.
2. Soak a thin sheet of paper in Loctite.
3. Cover the bolt head with the paper.
4. Press the 12mm socket on it.
5. Wait for a while (until Loctite is hard).
6. Pull the socket with the bolt.
7. Report here if it worked (never tried this there).

Make a dry test to find a suitable paper first. If you are lucky, it even pulls out with the paper alone.
