CDI SPARK UNIT

Postby Shoestring-uk » Mon Aug 29, 2016 3:54 am

Has anyone else come across this problem.
Its not tested out as it came in a box of bits and it seems like the sealant has just melted.
I have another unit and that one feels tacky as well.

Nearly everyone has come across that. It is common with the Oki brand, but less so with the NEC brand. Fortunately, it does not necessarily mean they are bad. Many people have refilled that area with JB Weld or something similar.

Do you need to clean out the old gunk before refilling it? My honda just did this and the backlight failed, fusebox was melted.. This goo in the CDI box is extremely sticky.

No, you can just refill it. I doubt that is related to your fuse box issue.

Cool. Which JB Weld would you recommend? Never used that brand before.

Just regular JB Weld.

Alright cool, thanks. I find it hard to understand how epoxy will stick to this sticky goo stuff - but nonetheless im gonna try it. :)

Quick update: i did stuff this thing with JB Weld, and it works fine, no more melting and dripping goo - just fine running bike :)
