I am having an issue and coming to this great group for help. I have searched the forum without an finding an answer (unlike usual).
When I ride my bike after about 5 minutes into the ride I lose most of the power and I have to give it much more throttle than usual to keep it running (and it runs poorly). It feels like the bike starts running on only two cylinders even though I cannot confirm that is what is actually happening. If I can keep it running for a few more minutes then all of the sudden the power returns and it shoots off like a rocket. I replaced the coils thinking this was the issue, but it did not solve the problem. It only seems to happen once the bike has warmed up. Any ideas of how to resolve this?
Thanks!

Power missing-Run, baby, run!
Re: Power missing-Run, baby, run!
I had a CB900C that would do that. The problem was in the pulse generator. Apparently when it got hot, something shorted in it and it made only two cylinders work. Once I replaced it, it ran like a scalded dog.

Thanks Folsoml, I will replace the pulse generators. Any ideas of where to buy new ones?

I had one to that would go out when hot. Try ebay or tom in parts section.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!
Re: Power missing-Run, baby, run!
I could not find one on eBay. I sent Tom a message. Hopefully, he has one.

Re: Power missing-Run, baby, run!
make sure that is the problem could be a coil or ignitor also.

Re: Power missing-Run, baby, run!
If you pull the plugs after a few minutes of poor running you should be able to figure out what cylinders are the problem. Black or gassy smells will tell you there is something off. If your plugs are pure white with no golden or black/brown colour it likely isn't ignition problems.(right?) It wouldn't hurt to make sure your carb boots are tight too. I hear vacuum leaks do odd things to the engine.

Re: Power missing-Run, baby, run!
I thought I would post an update. I purchased a used pulse generator from Tom and installed it. It seems to have remedied the problem. Thanks guys for your help!
