Stripped oil pan screw
Hello! I have a 1980 cb650. I recently bought the bike and started it up for the first time. Turns out I need to change the head gasket because it is heavily leaking oil from the gasket. I'm pretty sure the PO took the engine apart to paint it and use the same gaskets. So I get my gasket kit and I try to drain the oil. The drain plug just spins freely by hand, but doesn't leak oil. So my question is this. Any tips on removing the bolt? I have tried getting a screw driver under it with no luck. And the second is. How hard would it be to just unbolt the pan and drain the oil that way? Pretty sure it would me a mess from hell but I'm not seeing any other options. Thank you all and ride safe!
Re: Stripped oil pan screw
oil pan comes off fairly easily. Then can get a oversized plug or a "new" pan
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

It will make a mess though. No way around that.

Re: Stripped oil pan screw
So I dropped the pan and the bolt was one stubborn bastard. The threads on the pan where shot. Not sure how I didn't leak oil. The gasket the PO used was just a normal washer not a copper one. I threaded the hole a little bigger and put a new bolt in it. She's as good as new!
