1981 CB650 A pilot jet size??

Postby Cubbys Customs » Mon May 29, 2017 12:46 pm

Hey guys.... Newbie here. I need to replace 2 of the pilot jets on my 1981 CB650 A with the pressed in jets into CV carbs. I found a place to get them from (Jetsrus) but I cant find for the life of me the size for the stock (standard) pilot jet. From my research it looks to be a 35 that these carbs came with but I have also seen some 38s being used. I have looked in Honda manuals and even the CV carb addendum and nowhere does it list the standard pilot jet size... I am trying to make a bike show on Thursday with this thing and the Jets ur us guy says he can get me the jets I need within a day or so.... Please help...... Cubby

Not sure on size off the top of my head. It would be specific to your exhaust though. 4 to 2 should be one size, 4 to 4 another. I think 4 to 4 is the largest one.

I'd always heard that the cv carbs like those on Chubbys' bike will compensate for an exhaust change without any modification. It's only when you start messing with the airbox that you need to adjust jetting.

That being said, I think the 35's are standard, but I've never pulled out a pressed in slow jet before.
