New member - new old bike - maybe new ??’s

Postby Kriegmob » Thu Aug 09, 2018 8:09 pm

hopefully not same old questions.

My 79 CB650 is in pieces and getting ready to be put back together. This is my first rebuild, though I’ve kept some pretty needy bikes and outboard motors alive due to personal financial conditions :D

So first... I didn’t find a gasket under the ignition cover plate? Should there be? It wasn’t rusty inside, but seems suspect..

Not to stir up the pods/airbox debate, but if a guy decided to go pod filters (because the airbox was faded, cracked and recently had been a squirrels home) what size jets should he use in the carbs? And, honestly, I’m not looking to do a ton, so I don’t need optimal tuning.

Not a major need, but any suggestions for aftermarket dipstick? The original is so....plasticky.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome.
No gasket on my bike for the ignition cover.
120 main jet
42 slow jet.
