I am currently replacing the bent front rim on my motorcycle. The damper shims that install between the brake rotors and rim mounting bosses are a little worn/delaminating. they list for ~ $3 each as Honda OEM.
I would like to know if there is a substitute for them/aftermarket available? is there a suitable material i could purchase and make the shim (basically washers) myself?
I am reluctant to not use them, as they do provide spacing for the rotors-with respect to the brake caliper clearance gap. The word "damper" got my attention... as I thought that a shim of correct thickness, of stainless steel would not provide any dampening when compressed as part of assembly?
Thank you for your time and assistance.
