Postby kc13661 » Fri May 19, 2006 3:43 am

Hi Guys, and Girls

I have just had to replace the Cylinder Head Gasket along with Cam Chain Tensioner and Guide, I am working with data from my Haynes manual. Howeever I am having difficulty in locating the correct Torque Wrench Settings for the 12 Cylinder head bolts. Can anyone assist

Greatly Appreciated

Hi Keith, and welcome to the forum. It's great to have another Z owner aboard. :D

According to the Clymer manual:

The 8mm bolts: 17-22 ft.-lb / 24-30 N-m.
The 6mm bolts: 7-10 " " / 10-14 "

The manual also say you should apply molybdenum disulfide grease to the threads prior to installation.

You will also find the Honda workshop manual online here:

Head Bolts

Thanks for reply

I am a little confused with manual though, it quotes for 8mm bolts and 6 mm bolts. The bolts I am referring to are 12mm bolts the actual 12 bolts that retain the clyinder head not the cam carrier sorry if this sounds odd but I just cant seem to find any reference to 12mm bolts

P.S. Nice to be aboard

Yes, but the bolts themself are 8mm in diameter. It's the bolt head that is 12mm.
And the 6mm bolts are the two smaller in the front and rear of the cylinder head, with a 10mm head.
