CB650 frame number

Postby cosky » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:57 pm

Hi all, ive been trying to fine the year and manufacture of my honda, the frame number is: RC032000310
now i have looked about but all i could find was numbers only going back as far as RC032002472 == 1979
does this mean my honda is realy a 1978 model, one of the first to be made??
if some1 could help, that would be great.
thanks Cosky

According to:
http://www.kleinjung.de/techdata/index.htm
(sorry, German) also the frame numbers down to RC032000037 are 1979. These were the German market models, the free import list (which probably means everything but German market) in fact starts at RC032002472.
Means that your bike probably was originally foreseen for the German market or even comes from there.
Only once I saw a three-figure frame number before, at some fuel station during a trip in 1992. I should have a picture of the bike next to mine, but it was a RC05.
Have a look for year stamps inside one of the side covers. Here you may really get a manufacturing date and not the model year.
