Gonna openly display my dyslexia here....right hand (throttle side) i have the top right hand coil plug 2 going to the inside cylinder, and the lower right hand coil plug 3 going to the outer cylinder.

On the left hand (turn signal side) I have left hand upper coil 1 going to inside cylinder and lower left hand coil 4 going to outside cylinder.

Thank god I have a beer fridge in the garage....

You have the wires mixed up.
Left coil should be cylinders 1&4. Outside cylinders L&R.
Right coil should be cylinders 2&3. Inside cylinders L&R.

Cylinders numbered left to right as sitting on the bike 1,2,3,4

It was running on all four, now just outside two cylinders. Bad coil?

Check 4 power to coil.
Check for good ground to rt coli.
Check for good clean connection to rt coil on hot wire.
Check for broken hot wire to rt coil.

Check connections between kill switch and coil.

Also then check igniter units

Thanks usbear, getting all four running made my day, if all goes well I might even get a ride or two in on it before it gets too cold!

Got the plug, and front brake solved, getting close to a working clutch, but need to know if the starter/kill switch and wiring assembly is the same as the 83? I can get one for an 84 for about $30.

You should have no problems using the 84 switch controls. The wiring harness is the same for 83-85

Ghost: Thanks! Once it get the bike consistently running on all four cylinders (it sometimes drops to three and I am sure it is spark related) and get the clutch compression sorted out I can take it out for a ride.

Make sure your wire connections are CLEAN.

Like: NEW Metal Clean.
Looks like You have much oxidation and corrosion on that wire harness.
