spark Plug spanner

Postby pae » Wed Apr 18, 2007 2:24 am

Help. I don't have an original tool kit, and none of my sockets will get into the spark plugs. They are all to large.

Does anyone around here (UK preferably) have a spare they can sell or lend?

regards, Phil

try to get an old thin-walled tube socket spanner that fits. Sometimes one must cut length and drill holes for turning with a screwdriver at an accessible level.
If not to get but really urgent, cut a steel tube a few cm along its length, hammer the cut ending around the hexagon of an old spark plug and close it again with a welding dot. 8)

Good thinking, Volker. I wouldn't have thought of that.

So, Terry, are you saying that if we use Champion spark plugs a standard 5/8 socket will fit down in there?

A 5/8 plug socket. Used one for a couple years untill I went back to NGK's.

Cool. It'd be nice if NGK went to 5/8.

Acually I like the 17mm stock wrench if the tank is on. Its just the right length and not bulky.
