Runing too low RPMs
Runing too low RPMs
I have an 81 CB650 got everything going and drivnig it around but i cant get it to stay idling. Have to open the choke to keep it at the right RPM to idle. sometimes if i for get to open the choke a little when im at a light it will die. if that air fuel mixture or is there an idle screw on the carbs some where
Re: Runing too low RPMs
Either that or the low speed jets needs to be adjusted correctly.
For the idle adjuster look somewhere between the carbs. It's black usually.

Re: Runing too low RPMs
There is a fairly large black knob between the carbs. Adjust it after the bike has been completely warmed up and while it is still running. It is designed to be turned by hand and should only take a small adjustment to correct the idle.
Re: Runing too low RPMs
On the 81 it will be on the bottom of the carbs on the right side.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!
Re: Runing too low RPMs
Evidently they are not all the same as my 81 is in between the center two carbs. Anyway you can't miss it if you look for a big black knob.

Re: Runing too low RPMs
Center kinda but more to the right. Do you reach in from the left to adjust it?

Re: Runing too low RPMs
OK FYI: I went out and measured with a tape and the distant to the knob from the outer edge of the left carb is 4 & 3/4 inches and from the right Carb in it measures 5 & 1/2 inches. So it is closer to the left than the right.
However it is a bit easier to adjust if accessed from the right side because the spacing of the knob is closer to the left carb leaving more room for the fingers on the right. And there you have it.

Re: Runing too low RPMs
Between the two of us I think we have figured out exactly where the knob is and everyone else can now find it as well.
