Help Putting on new bars
Hi everyone,
I just got an 81 cb650 custom. It needs work so I was planning
On making it a bobber. I have no experience working on bikes and could use so e pointer. I got a free set of drag bars 1". What do I need to change out the stock ones I have on there?

More work than its worth. You can buy 7/8 drag bars pretty cheap.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

Re: Help Putting on new bars
I have found cheap 7/8 drag bars everywhere, but where is a good source for the risers to attach the bars? I have a 1982 CB650SC and can't seem to find the individual bars that mount right up.
Re: Help Putting on new bars
With a nitehawk your stuck with the 2 piece stock bars unless you change the triple trees.

Re: Help Putting on new bars
I have a nighthawk as well and my question is will the triple tree from similar years work? I want to put 7/8 bars but I dunno if the tree would just mount right on.
Re: Help Putting on new bars
The tubes are bigger than all the other 650's so they dont just bolt on.
I'm going to just swap over a whole front end.

Re: Help Putting on new bars
Sounds like clip-ons are the way to go for you nighthawk owners. Lowering the forks is likely easier than swapping your upper tree or the entire front end.
Re: Help Putting on new bars
I dont like the gauge either. Do like the dual piston calipers. Will keep them. Looks like they will bolt into the 81 custom sliders.

I have the 1982 CB650sc Nighthawk with the funky bars that come straight up...I ended up going with Clip-Ons!
37mm is the size you need if you go the clip-on route.

Hi, i was just curious as to why you bought 37mm clip ons when the fork tubes for an '82 are 35mm. Do the 37mm's fit better?

Welcome here!
1982 standard (RC05) and 1982 SC(RC08) have different fork diameter.
In fact most except the engine is different and hardly interchangeable.

Ohh ok sweet, well mine are the RC08 tubes. Would you happen to know the diameter of these? That would be ossm. Thank you.
Re: Help Putting on new bars
RC08 fork diameter is 37mm.
(Looked up from fork seals which are 37 x 50 x 11mm in case this is of any use for you.)

I have a 1982 650 CB Night Hawk too. Did you use the 7/8 inch 37mm clip ons? If so what brand? Vortez appears to be the best quality. I guess they will work on my bike
