80 CB650 for sale

Postby Totaled108 » Wed Jan 01, 2014 12:02 pm

Fixing it up to run perfectly has got me ripping my hair out. So I'm just putting up a feeler thread to see if parting it out would be worth the trouble.

Early spring 2013 I put new piston rings in honed cylinders, along with new valve seals. Has about 43,000 miles on the motor, ~7000 of which are post rebuild. There is also a new clutch pack that was installed ~6000 miles ago, so it's basically new.

All is pretty much stock. It's no beauty queen but has served me pretty well over this last year. Just these last few months it's not been working quite right, I'm sure I could get it going well with a few more hours of work and a half dozen more carb removals and installs, but I've got a 2008 motorcycle for a daily driver, so I'm ready to this old girl go.

First if anyone is interested in buying the bike as is, let me know. If it doesn't sell for what I'd like for it, I'll part it out. :)

I'd like $800 for it with all it's part intact.

Cheers.

Mts isnt the problem. I go to grand junction a few times a year. Its the extra 1000 miles.
I have a new drag bike idea that is going to get my money this spring.

 $ 800 thats pretty cheap in my eyes as i had to pay over $ 2000 for mine, but i live in Sweden with lot of taxes and customs fees so i think that's why mine was so expensive!

With all the work that you have into the bike. It would be a shame to part it out.
Is that a standard, or custom?
4-2= standard (4-2 can be used on the custom non-stock)
Comstars, side stand, headlight= custom

I could see that being a good Gentlemens Express project!

I don't want to part it out. I'd like to see it go to someone with more time on there hands then I do. It is a custom with stander end pipes. I still have the custom pipes, but they have been worked on by someone in the past that didn't do a good job of repairing the issue. Bad hole clamp to hold everything in place.

I'm getting closer to doing so though. I'll place it on craigslist as is and see if I can get any takers locally.

But I don't have lots of room to store it, so after a week or so the parts will have to find new homes.

Cheers all.

Would be a shame to part it. But if you do I'm interested in a couple items. Tank and luggage rack.

So I took the rack off again and cleaned up the slow circuit, pulling slow jets. Put it back together and fired right up. But it still won't idle without choke. Drops one of the cylinders at idle. Rode it around and it still has great power and is smooth as silk off idle. I put it back up on Craigslist and am getting some interest. I even broke out the degreaser, bucket and hose for a good cleaning. Someone will get a half descent bike.

I even have an older guy see me pull into my driveway and chat about for about 10 minutes. He talked about how he hadn't seen one like it in years. No real interest in buying now, but will think about.

I'm sure it will be ridden off by someone by early spring.

Thanks for not letting me part it out.

So I live in Salem (45 miles away) and I am interested.

I have been in Las Vegas for 3 months with my sister after her husband died at thanksgiving. Driving home in two days and then gone for two more weeks to move her things.
Send me private message and I will contact you.
Thanks
Bob

She is sold!

Feels good and bad all at once. It love how is revved happy, and was nimble and responsive.

More happy, though, with the KLR650 for my style of riding.

I still have the rear rack and sissy bar, that's for you cb650, and I still have the black tank from the standard 650 that turned into the parts bike.

I'll post up for sale some random good parts from the parts bike in the near future.

I hope he gets plenty of smiles with the bike.

I'll try to hang around as much as I can, I really got a lot of help from this forum so if I can help at all, I'll chime in.

Cheers
Tom
