Very nice!

Did you turn the brake lever at the drum upside down?
I've seen cb650's with them up and some with the lever down.

Dude this is spot on. Absolute inspiration for my project. Well done on a fantastic build, it's all looking really tight. Curious though -

Did you sandblast the engine? Also, Spoked wheels? The pictures on your photobucket show comstars, what did you do here? I'd love to spoke mine up but the only solution i can find is a chap called Jerry who makes awesome custom spoke plates. Was this a Jerry Job?

Thanks man, ride safe!

You can use the 80-82 650 standard single disc spoke wheels. They were also used on the DOHC 750. Fairly common on ebay.

Wow, Mighost, that's exciting! This would work for replacing the wheels of a '81 z model? Thanks!

The interchange will only work for a single disc model. If the Z is a dual disc this will not work.

The only dual disc front hub/rotor/caliper combination that I am aware of that will work is a complete front fork replacement from 75-77 GL1000 goldwing, and even this requires modification of the triple tree stem. GL1000 front fork assy's are starting to get expensive

sorry about the late post, been out for a while. I did not sandblast the engine. Just degreased and used red scuff pads then followed up with engine primer then paint. The rims are a Jerry job, he did a fantastic job and will deal with him again in the future. Thank you for the positive feed back. My future plans are cr specials. I have no problems at all with the stock pd carbs, but i spent the money and time on the bike, why not get some bad a$$ carbs. lol i will be posting a new pic shortly also
