New member alert !!!

Postby Trails053 » Sun Apr 26, 2015 11:19 pm

I didn't quite know where to put this post, but I just wanted to say thank you for letting me join your forum. I've always been a Honda admirer for a long time. I currently own a 1994 VT 1100 and in 1979 CM 400 T. One of the reasons why I asked to join this form is because I am interested in purchasing a 1980 CB 650. The salesman said the previous owner said that there was a low compression. What the compression was, I'm not too sure. I believe it's supposed to be 9 to 1 compression.

Welcome to the forum!

PS: I removed your picture because it was HUGE. It made the thread very difficult to view. If you could the size and repost, that would be awesome. Check my signature for suggestions.

Welcome That is the compression ratio. When doing a comp check should be in the 130 psi range.
Did you clean the tank out?!?!?!?!

Welcome here! :D

For a coarse but quick compression check, you may turn the engine forward with a 24mm socket at the right side of the crankshaft. You should feel four equal compressions during two turns. If you feel a difference, something is wrong. Maybe just valve settings, but maybe something worse.
