PLUG B, OIL PATH CB650 1979 (Z)

Postby Shoestring-uk » Wed Aug 24, 2016 9:30 am

Hi. This oil gallery plug has a hex centre the same as an Allen Key.
I have measured it with a pair of calipers and I make it 12.4mm flat to flat.
Anyone know the correct size and has it been hard to get out.
Its item number 3. top centre.

I think you should get it out with a 12mm Allen key.
You may make a tiny steel plate to shim a possible gap so you get it out safe without damage.
It should come out easily, it is just a plug with an O-ring. At least I don't remember trouble there.

I won't be surprised if it already would come out with a large screwdriver (and possibly something else like a nut into the hex hole if required for blocking it). Worth a careful try, but don't try to force it that way.

Many thanks for your reply but this little devil is stuck fast.
Think i may have to use heat on the alloy.

Heat usually is a good idea but be careful there. Especially if there should be traces of "ground contact" at the bottom.
Possibly worth to consider if you really need to have it out.
